February Volunteers of the Month Lynchwood Christian Church
The ladies of Lynchwood Christian Church in Southeast Portland have a long history of volunteer service. Since the church was founded in the early 1970s in one of the dairy barns at Meadowland Dairy on SE Powell Boulevard, the church members have been involved in charitable work. From collecting food for SnoCap, to building homes for Habitat for Humanity, to their annual Christmas tree trimmed with socks, caps and mittens for the homeless, Lynchwood Christian Church members have made it their mission to become involved in the community where they live.

Today a core group volunteers the first Monday and Tuesday of every month, working in the kitchen, serving meals to those who come into the Center for lunch and preparing the coolers to go out with the Meals-On-Wheels drivers. Several members deliver a Meals-On-Wheels route weekly, and Eunice Johnson serves on both the Centers Council and the Loaves & Fishes Centers Board of Directors. Frank and Elaine Spellman stock and maintain a snack table three days a week and donate all proceeds to the center. Even Pastor Bob Hanna gets involved and occasionally drives a route himself.
