Stop by the Tigard Senior Center on the first Tuesday of the month and the kitchen crew will be looking pretty corporate. Beneath the hairnets and aprons will be employees in business attire from the corporate offices of NORPAC Foods. They’ve been volunteering since January of this year.

“Some of our staff went to the Loaves & Fishes Annual Luncheon and learned about volunteer opportunities at the centers,” said team coordinator Cathi Brusse. “Our offices are pretty close to the Tigard Center, and we thought helping out was a good way to get involved in the community.”

Cathi said the response to her request for volunteers was great! We wanted to limit the number of employees volunteering at first so we wouldn’t end up sending a different group every month,” she said. “We have two teams of five who share the responsibility now. Once they feel pretty comfortable, we’ll start adding additional teams.”
