More than 70 area seniors are registered to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day lunch and party scheduled at the Washougal Loaves & Fishes Center on Monday, March 17. The event, which runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., features a corned beef and colcannon lunch and entertainment by pianist Barbara Curry. Camas City Councilwoman Helen Gerde and Washougal City Councilwoman Molly Coston will be on hand to help serve meals.
Washougal Loaves & Fishes Center is located at 1681 C Street in Washougal and serves hot, nutritious meals to seniors Monday through Thursday. The manager is Ross Jonak and he can be reached at 360.835.7802 ext. 4725.
Since 1970 Loaves & Fishes Centers has provided a nutritional and social lifeline for seniors through 35 meal sites in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties and Meals-On-Wheels delivery to homebound seniors. With the help of more than 7,500 volunteers, the nonprofit, nonsectarian agency now serves 5,000 meals daily and more than 1.3 million meals each year. Loaves & Fishes Centers was named one of the “Ten Most Admired Companies” in the non profit category in Oregon by The Portland Business Journal in 2006.
