Members of the PDX Mini Club will bring 30 Mini Cooper cars to deliver Meals-On-Wheels to homebound seniors on Saturday, June 21. By volunteering on a Saturday, the club members will allow the regular weekend volunteers to take the day off.
Club members will gather at Loaves & Fishes Centers Central Kitchen, located at 7710 SW 31st Avenue, at 10:30 a.m. on June 21. Members will bring hot meals to homebound seniors in Multnomah and Washington counties.
PDX Mini was established in 2002 for enthusiasts and owners of the Mini Cooper, Cooper S cars and classic minis. While primarily a social and driving club, PDX Mini also undertakes a number of social service events annually.
Since 1970 Loaves & Fishes Centers has provided a nutritional and social lifeline for seniors through 35 meal sites in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties and Meals-On-Wheels delivery to homebound seniors. With the help of more than 7,500 volunteers, the nonprofit, nonsectarian agency now serves 5,000 meals daily and more than 1.3 million meals each year. Loaves & Fishes Centers was named one of the “Ten Most Admired Companies” in the non profit category in Oregon by The Portland Business Journal in 2006.
