Buy a loaf of bread from Nature Bake's Healthy Bread Store in February and it will nourish both your body and your soul. The folks at Nature Bake and Dave's Killer Bread will contribute 50 percent of the retail sales from the Healthy Bread Store during the week of Feb. 1 through 7 to Loaves & Fishes Centers, The Meals-On-Wheels People.
Originally launched at the Portland Farmer's Market in 2005, Dave's Killer Bread is now available in 10 varieties and available at several grocers throughout Oregon and Washington.
Dave's Killer Bread is an organic product made with natural grains and no animal products. The line of bread was developed by Dave Dahl after he had served time in prison for a variety of offenses. He grew up in the bakery business (His dad, James, started Nature Bake in 1955), and he returned to his roots and the family business. Having repaid his debt to society, Dave now strives to make the best bread possible – and donate some of the proceeds to area nonprofit organizations.
Shop at the Healthy Bread Store, located at 5209 SE International Way in Milwaukie during the first week of February. You'll get a great loaf of bread and help out Loaves & Fishes Centers at the same time.
Since 1970 Loaves & Fishes Centers has provided a nutritional and social lifeline for seniors through 35 meal sites in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties and Meals-On-Wheels delivery to homebound seniors. With the help of more than 7,400 volunteers, the nonprofit, secular agency now serves 5,000 meals daily and more than 1.4 million meals each year. Loaves & Fishes Centers was named one of the “Ten Most Admired Companies” in the non profit category in Oregon by The Portland Business Journal in 2006.
