Portland shoppers can Donate Dinner for homebound seniors this holiday season by making a financial contribution to help support Loaves & Fishes Centers, The Meals-On-Wheels People.
From Nov. 21-25, shoppers can add a donation to their purchase at 25 grocers in the Portland-Vancouver area. An extra $3.68 provides one meal for a Meals-On-Wheels client; $25.76 pays for a week of meals; and a donation of $103.04 provides a month of meals for a homebound senior.
More than 1,500 volunteers are needed to help staff the stores during the five days of the campaign to greet customers and distribute Donate Dinner cards. Volunteers spend just two hours at one of 25 locations throughout the greater Metro area. To volunteer, go to www.donatedinner.org.
The Donate Dinner campaign helps Loaves & Fishes Centers serve more than 5,000 Portland-Vancouver area seniors every weekday. The agency depends on such community contributions for nearly 60 percent of its funding.
